Dubai-based Gulf/Iran News Director Jon Gambrell used deep sourcing, analysis of satellite photos and knowledge of Iran’s nuclear program to put AP out front in reporting that a fire had damaged Iran’s advanced centrifuge assembly plant at Natanz, one of the most-tightly guarded sites in all of the Islamic Republic after earlier acts of sabotage there.
AP first to identify Iran’s damaged centrifuge site
This photo released July 2, 2020 by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran shows a building after it was damaged by a fire at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, some 322 kilometers (200 miles) south of Tehran. Iran confirmed on July 5 that a damaged building at the underground Natanz nuclear site was a new centrifuge assembly center, the official IRNA news agency reported.
