Josh Funk and Heather Hollingsworth looked behind the news of a man who was killed by police after he fired an AR-15-style rifle in an Omaha Target store. Funk located the uncle of the shooter to explore his issues with mental health. Hollingsworth found reports among state and local police indicating that they knew of his problems, but they had no power to prevent the man from owning firearms. The Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star used the story on their front pages.
